Universities as a Link in the Sustainable Innovation Process Chain
On September 30, 2024 Prof. Vesna Bucevska, PhD, presented her findings on the topic of “Universities as a Link in the Sustainable Innovation Process Chain.” Drawing from her secondment experience, Prof. Bucevska highlighted how higher education institutions act as hubs of knowledge and creativity, which, when connected to industries, can foster sustainable innovation. She elaborated on the sustainable innovation process chain, explaining how universities contribute through research, collaboration, and education to solve global challenges like climate change and economic inequality.
Prof. Bucevska emphasized the importance of strong university-industry ties, advocating for faster implementation of academic research in real-world applications. Drawing from her time in Manchester and Liverpool, she provided insights into the collaboration models seen in the region, underscoring their relevance for fostering sustainability in the Balkans. Her presentation concluded with a call for increased cross-border academic partnerships to create a global network for sustainable innovation.
